Politicians need funding - but the people who do the funding may ask you to back being soft on some aspects of crime in exchange for that money.

I don’t know how someone could watch the documentary and not be crushed by the sheer irrationality of it all.

I understand your sense of disbelief. But from what I have seen of the elders, otherwise intelligent, friendly people act normal up to the point where reality and the truth is perceived by them as a threat.

I have seen it most starkly when someone who I think KNEW Watchtower's doctrines were rubbish from the start, was presented with the truth (ie 3 is not 11). The truth is going to reveal something about them which they don't want to be seen. It's like a thief caught with his hand in the till. So what the thief does is, he seeks to convince all other onlookers that the shop keeper is the thief. If they refuse to believe him. He burns the shop down and says the shop never existed and the onlookers are mad for ever believing it did. If no one takes any action against this thief and arsonist, he'll carry on like that. Therefore, everyone had better prepare to view the world his way or have their own houses burnt down and their stuff stolen.

If anyone gets upset by theft of arson, the words theft and arson get reframed. In Watchtower world maybe they'd be reframed as 'privileges'. Yes it is absurd but once you get to this level, you realise how that which is often viewed as common sense is actually Christianity. People have taken commnon sense values for granted but now others are challenging that view. And the questions are 'why is something wrong?' What is 'wrong?'

Yes, many laws do rest on Judeo-Christian values. Now here's a question, is attacking such laws Antisemitc? If not, why not?

Putting out information which stirs up agression by group of people 'A' against group of people 'B', isn't that a hate crime? If not why, why not?

A quick note on Frankfurt School. Am still watching 2nd video, MeanMrMustard - don't know if the speaker will bring this out in his talk but Frankfurt School came about because Marxism failed.

Stalin bought the Russians a lots of tractors and the Russian peasants were moral in the Christian sense, due to their culture. So although life in Stalinist Russia was not easy, it succeeded in a number of ways because the population were Christian.

In the face of Christianity Marxism failed. The Frankfurt School considered that Marxism failed because it had focussed on property in the financial/economic sense. What was needed was a cultural attack so that property was not just a house or a car, but a wife and children. The family. The sense of property and propriety were to be attacked in a new manner via the media. Hollywood, BBC (which George Orwell alluded (as the Ministry of Truth) to in his book 1984).

MeanMrMustard - yes the grievance is the point - if you haven't got one make one up. Forget 'turn the other cheek'. Even if you haven't been wronged, you gotta complain.

Haven't watch all the second video yet. Just part of it and it's reminding me about those who view poetry as real science. A poet, like a journalist, has license. But how does such a license tie up with maths, probability and evidence? The justification for poet license as science is 'I have experienced the truth in a way you cannot." So anyone who opposes the poet's beliefs is stone walled. Same with Watchtower.

I approached the Governing Body on the purely scientific matter of the number 3 actually being the number 3 and not the number 11. This was in relation to Dan 1:1, not the trinity.

On this special number 3 rests the authority of the Governing Body (ie 1914). And a special number 2 at Dan 2:1, supports 1914 as well. Their problem with number 2 is that it needs to be 20 and it isn't. Cause Jerusalem fell in the 19th year of Nebuchadnezzar and they depend on Dan 2:1 being the year that followed the 19th year of Nebuchadnezzar. Anyway they make it all up and use brilliant techniques to confuse everyone about something really simple. Then they tell them to wait on Jehovah - who didn't get anything wrong to sort out their rubbish.

Am making a video on it to explain it all - here's one of the frames from it. What Watchtower is doing is making out Dan 1:1 is actually 2 Kings 24:1. Well it isn't.

MeanMrMustard - I when I was thrown out of WTBS for insisting the number 3 was the number 3 and explained what I had endured to a friendly Christian from another denomination, he said to me that the Watchtower acted just like the UK Labour Party.

how do the congregation view the inactive ones who no longer associate?

not with disdain, we are told but as lost sheep “still our brothers “ it is said that god loves them and they too must do what they can to help them.. why have we strayed ?

Based on real life incidents.

1) Disfellowshipped person (me) - meets them on cart (pre covid) - they aren't supposed to talk to me. But I get a big hug, huge smiles and they say 'we want you back, we want you back.'

2) Disfellowshipped person (me) - meets them on cart (pre covid) - they aren't supposed to talk to me. They stuff their noses in the air and turn the other way.

To the first one I say, "I am still the same person I was. I have been lied about and you have been lied to. There are lots of us who have realised the Watchtower Organisation tells lies. When you are ready to leave, you'll find you we are all here just waiting for you. You will never be alone or abandoned. Don't be afraid to leave."

If appropriate go and get them coffee or hot chocolate or something nice they like.

To the second one, I say nothing and just shake my head in disbelief and they get NO COFFEE.

Not on earth could mean dry land. So maybe they'll be in the sea practicing their swimming with millstones.

(Matthew 18:6) . . .But whoever stumbles one of these little ones who put faith in me, it is more beneficial for him to have hung around his neck a millstone such as is turned by an ass and to be sunk in the wide, open sea.

Or maybe they'll be wishing they could go swimming with millstones, as this is the preferable option for those who stumble the little ones who have put faith in Jesus Christ.
